MacArt Films was founded in 2004 by producer & screenwriter Shawna McCormack. MacArt's inaugural feature Finding Fate is in pre-production, and the first in a trilogy of Irish themed projects in the pipeline.
Ms. McCormack, born the youngest of seven and the only girl, grew up in the Dorchester/South Boston, MA area. Educated at both The Boston Conservatory and U/Mass Boston, her career in entertainment began as a Casting Director shortly after her move to NYC. She worked on feature projects with Oscar nominated director Taylor Hackford (Dolores Claiborne), Peter Segal (Naked Gun 33 & 1/3, The Final Insult) and cult favorite, director Slava Zuckerman (Liquid Sky).
Shawna spent time as a franchised talent agent before moving on to open her own talent management company Trinity Entertainment, representing actors and directors for film, TV and theatre. In 1997 under the Trinity banner, she wrote, produced and co-directed the documentary film Mogul Dynasty – Throne or Coffin, shot on location in India. In 2002, Ms. McCormack was brought in by Right Down Broadway Productions to executive producer their off-Broadway production of A Late Supper. In 2005, Ms McCormack again collaborated with RDB Productions as co-creator on a TV sitcom project Are You With Me?
Currently, Ms. McCormack is writing a memoir about her six brothers growing up in the South Boston housing projects, and an illustrated children’s book about a Celtic warrior princess.
